The Italian Ambassador to Ghana and Togo, Daniela d’Orlandi, has lauded the ties between Italy and Ghana which she said had been beneficial to both countries.

She said the relationship, which had lasted over decades, had led to lots of exchange programmes and bilateral agreements between Ghana and Italy.

Ms d’Orlandi said that during the celebration of Italy’s Independence Day at the residence of the Italian Honorary Vice Consul, Stefano Ramella Pezza, in Kumasi.

The Ocassion, which was observed on June 2nd, 2023, brought together business men, traditional leaders and a host of Italians living in Kumasi to celebrate the 77th Independence of the Republic of Italy.

Ms d’Orlandi said the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries last year yielded 825 million euros “and our Embassy is deeply committed to promote further opportunities as regards trade and investment”.

Currently, she said, Italians were also involved in the oil and gas industry in the country and had as well been playing a leading role in the construction industry.

She was hopeful that the relationship between the countries would deepen further for the mutual benefit of their people.

Bantamahene

the Bantamahene, Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia VI, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, described Italy as one of the great pillars in Ghana’s infrastructural development and cited the likes of Barbisotti and Sons, Consar Ghana Limited saying “these are great Italian giants that have contributed significantly to the infrastructure of our country”.
