HCCGH & FICAC HONOUR THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS

The World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) had the privilege of being granted an audience and the opportunity to award the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, with its highest honour, the FICAC Gold Star. The award was presented on Thursday 23rd February 2023, at the Presidential Palace, for “the outstanding work of President Anastasiades during his ten-year term of office, his contribution to the global political scene and his smooth and impeccable cooperation with the island’s honorary consuls”.

The award was presented by FICAC’s newly elected, at the recent Limassol Congress, President Hon. Nikolaos Margaropoulos and four (4) other members of the Board of Directors, the Honorables Kwame Acquah, Stelio Campanale, Ami Orkaby and Louis Vella, who travelled to Cyprus specifically for the occasion. Also present were the vice president emeritus of FICAC, Hon. Kostakis Lefkaritis, and the President of the Consular Corps of Cyprus, Christos Tsanos.

President Anastasiades thanked the World Federation of Consuls, stating that “it is the recognition of the effort to contribute to my country and therefore it is something special. It is an honour, which I accept, on behalf of all the people of Cyprus, in recognition of the effort we have made to address a number of problems over the last decade.”

The FICAC delegation also presented a plaque of honour to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides, for his excellent cooperation and support to the Consular Corps of Cyprus, as Chief Diplomat.

The FICAC Gold Star was established in 2007 and is FICAC’s highest honour awarded to Heads of State in recognition of their outstanding work.
