Meeting with the Hon Minister – Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey

The HCCGH delegation, restricting to a small group of three Executive Committee Members led by Dean, Hon Dimitri Avraam, to respect the COVID 19 protocols, congratulated the Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on her re-appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration by H.E. Nana Akufo- Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana .

The main aim was to introduce the  HCCGH that has a membership of 28 , representing countries in all continents and highlight the critical role played by the Hon Consuls in enhancing the bilateral relations between each of the respective sending countries especially in the economic and cultural sectors while mainly focusing  in promoting co-ordination with the local authorities, educating the public on the role and in ensuring protection etc under the provisions of the Vienna Convention “ L’Union Fait La Force”

The Honorary Consuls also play a part in attracting FDI in the country and in leading very successful business entities that provide employment to thousands of persons

Charity work and assisting communities accordingly has been an yearly activity with participation in the completion of Kodzi Community Centre and Library, supporting the front line security force with COVID 19 protection gears, planting trees in some selected areas in Accra & Kumasi to support Green Ghana Initiative

Some concerns of the membership and the Corps were raised as follows:

  1. Privileges under the Vienna Convention including Registration Plate of Vehicles
  2. Order of Precedence during functions and correspondence
  3. Appointment of a dedicated person for coordination with the Corps
  4. List of Ghana’s Honorable Consuls aboard
